DID YOU KNOW? Behind the doors of an unassuming Las Vegas shopping center sits an antique mall whose story stretches back nearly four decades?
Welcome to Charleston Antique Mall, where the building may say shopping center… but once you step through those doors, you have officially entered a maze of decades gone by.
And this one has quite a history.
🐓 BEFORE CHARLESTON… THERE WAS THE RED ROOSTER
The story begins in 1987, when the business originally opened on Western Avenue under the wonderfully vintage-sounding name The Red Rooster.
The original location was described as a two-story building resembling an old barn, packed with antiques and collectibles. The business expanded in 1992, and in 2006, after relocating to Charleston Boulevard, The Red Rooster officially became Charleston Antique Mall.
Then another chapter began.
In March 2008, antique dealers Cal and Michelle Tully purchased the business. Their son Steve later joined the operation, helping with technical and building responsibilities. A 2021 profile identified Michelle Tully and Steve Perez as the mall’s owners.
But Las Vegas was changing around them.
In 2012, highway construction and realignment forced Charleston Antique Mall to leave its Charleston Boulevard building. Interestingly, that former building had originally housed a Las Vegas 7-Up bottling plant and was considered historically significant for its association with the city’s mid-century industrial development.
The mall found a new—and larger—home at 560 S. Decatur Boulevard.
And here is where history apparently decided to have a little fun.
After leaving Charleston Boulevard, Charleston Antique Mall landed inside the Charleston Heights shopping center.
On July 1, 2012, the mall reopened at its present location.
Today, Charleston Antique Mall advertises 18,000 square feet of antiques, vintage and collectibles with more than 75 dealers.
Nearly 40 years after those Red Rooster beginnings, the treasure hunt continues.
🛍️ DON’T LET THE SHOPPING CENTER FOOL YOU…
One of my first observations was the location itself.
Charleston Antique Mall sits in a traditional shopping center, so from the parking lot you may have absolutely no idea what is waiting behind those doors.
There is ample free parking, which is especially convenient if you’re visiting Las Vegas, renting a car and looking for an antiquing adventure away from the Strip.
Then you walk inside…
And the treasure hunt begins.
Immediately, you’re greeted by glass showcases filled with vintage and antique goodies—jewelry, figurines, pop-culture collectibles, toys and all sorts of little treasures competing for your attention.
Lockers are available for bags, followed by the front cashier area, where the staff offered a humble and friendly welcome.
Nothing stuffy.
Nothing intimidating.
Just that wonderful feeling of…
Come on in and start looking.
👗 THEN I SAW THE FIRST BOOTH…
Entering the main mall, one of the first sights that caught my attention was a booth filled with vintage dresses, Lucite purses and metal handbags from the 1960s and 1970s.
Oh yes.
We were officially in vintage heaven.
It was the epitome of mid-century fashion—when even a handbag could be a miniature work of art.
But then comes your first dilemma:
Which aisle do you choose?
Because Charleston Antique Mall is a MAZE.
And I mean that as a compliment.
Every turn seems to reveal another aisle, another booth, another showcase and another little corner you didn’t realize was there.
Even the walls demand your attention.
Artwork and wall décor appear throughout the mall, meaning looking straight ahead simply isn’t enough.
Look left. Look right. Look UP. And occasionally look behind you.
Because this is absolutely the kind of antique mall where you could walk right past something fabulous without ever realizing it.
My recommendation?
Take. Your. Time.
This is not a 20-minute antique stop.
🗝️ 75+ DEALERS… BUT IT FEELS LIKE MUCH MORE
Charleston Antique Mall officially advertises more than 75 dealers, but walking through the store, it certainly feels like there are far more individual selling spaces.
I easily felt as though I passed 100 or more booths, showcases and vendor spaces during my visit.
That isn’t necessarily a contradiction—antique-mall dealers can occupy multiple booths or showcases, and Charleston’s own dealer information explains that sellers may begin in a showcase before eventually moving into booth space.
And these aren’t simply spaces with merchandise placed on folding tables.
Many feel like tiny individual shops within the mall.
The booths are generally well organized and thoughtfully curated, each developing its own personality as you move from one dealer to another.
That’s part of what made Charleston Antique Mall interesting to me.
There wasn’t just one collectible category dominating the store.
Instead, you can wander from vintage glass…
to furniture…
to mid-century modern lighting…
to fashion…
to music…
to artwork…
to memorabilia…
to jewelry…
to sports collectibles…
and suddenly find yourself staring at something you never intended to shop for.
That is what a good antique mall is supposed to do.
🔐 AND YES… THERE ARE LOCKED TREASURES
A noticeable number of vendors use locked showcases, particularly for smaller, valuable or collectible merchandise.
So if something catches your eye behind glass, you’ll need assistance from a floor clerk.
Fortunately, Charleston Antique Mall gets something very important right:
There are actually employees walking the floor.
During my visit, staff members were visible, approachable and kind.
That may sound like a small detail until you’ve wandered around an antique mall holding a booth number in your hand desperately searching for someone with a key.
Here, customer service was top notch.
💰 LET’S TALK PRICING…
Charleston Antique Mall falls into what I would consider the higher-end antique mall category.
This is important because “expensive” and “overpriced” are not necessarily the same thing.
Much of the merchandise I encountered was higher quality, unusual, collectible or simply harder to find.
And that matters.
If you’re expecting thrift-store pricing, this probably isn’t your mall.
If you’re looking for uncommon vintage fashion, quality glass, unusual décor, collectible lighting, memorabilia and pieces you aren’t likely to stumble across every weekend…
now we’re talking.
Pricing varies significantly from dealer to dealer—as it should in a multi-vendor mall—and outside customer reviews likewise range from shoppers reporting good values and deals to others finding certain dealer prices high.
My advice is to judge the item, not simply the price tag.
Consider condition.
Rarity.
Maker.
Age.
Completeness.
And most importantly…
How easily can you find another one?
Sometimes you’re paying $10 for something you’ll see again tomorrow.
Sometimes you’re paying $150 for something you won’t see again for five years.
There is a difference.
🏺 THE VINTAGE SHACK® VERDICT
Charleston Antique Mall is exactly what I enjoy finding when reviewing antique malls.
It has history.
It has variety.
It has quality.
And most importantly…
It still feels like a treasure hunt.
The polished, carefully curated booths make browsing visually interesting, while the maze-like layout means you genuinely have to slow down and explore.
With 18,000 square feet and more than 75 dealers, there is enough inventory here to keep a serious collector busy for quite some time. Charleston Antique Mall was also named the 2026 Best of Vegas Readers’ Choice for Best Antique Shop by Las Vegas Weekly—a rather timely distinction for a business whose roots reach all the way back to 1987.
Customer service during my visit was exceptional. Employees were visible throughout the store, approachable and willing to help when assistance was needed.
The location is easy to access, there is ample free parking, and for visitors willing to venture away from the Strip, this is absolutely a destination worth adding to the Las Vegas antiquing list.
And perhaps my favorite part?
From the outside, you’d never know the size of the vintage world hiding inside.
That’s the magic of antique malls.
Sometimes the best treasures are hiding behind the most ordinary doors.
